President Yoweri Museveni has warned parliament not to get tempted that it runs government saying he can call a referendum to ‘resolve the issue.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Museveni made the comment while addressing a group of NRM MPs-elect during the closing ceremony of their retreat kn Kyankwanzi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Everybody must do his work….Parliament is not the one which runs Uganda, I can put it to a referendum and resolve this issue once and for all because this ‘kisanja’ will not be a joking ‘kisanja,” Museveni said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added, “I have the capacity to say no. I shouldn’t be speaking about this for two weeks, begging writing, lobbying, I’m now a lobbyist. I’ll no longer lobby, I’ll use my authority to say no, finished!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also put the incoming parliament on notice, saying it must attend to government business without any delays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Museveni has warned that he will not hesitate to use his executive authority to have his views and ideas passed in parliament. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The president’s remarks come as a political battle rages on within NRM between incumbent Rebecca Kadaga and her Deputy Jacob Oulanyah on who will be the party candidate for Speakership.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
