The Cuban Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Antonio Luis Pubillones has called on Uganda to reopen its full diplomatic presence in the Cuban capital, Havana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ambassador was speaking during a meeting with the Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah and a team of MPs at Serena Hotel, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ambassador Antonio said that this will help cement the historical ties between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later, Oulanyah tweeted about a meeting he held with the ambassador saying they had discussed areas of cooperation between the countries’ legislative bodies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Had a fruitful discussion with the Ambassador to Cuba H.E. Antonio Louis Pubillones. We discussed bilateral relations and delved into areas of joint cooperation between the two Parliaments; Cuba and Uganda,” Oulanyah said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The embassy described the talks with Oulanyah as “excellent.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2016, during a visit to Uganda, Cuba’s Vice President Salvador Valdes Mesa also asked Kampala to reopen it’s diplomatic mission in Havana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Yoweri Museveni then promised that Uganda would re-open its embassy in the Cuban capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uganda and Cuba have, over the past 46 years enjoyed close friendship which have stood the test of time. The two countries have supported each other at international fora through the Non Allied Movement, G77 and at the UN to defend and protect their strategic political and economic interests and partnerships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
