{"id":22642,"date":"2021-03-25T12:11:01","date_gmt":"2021-03-25T09:11:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=22642"},"modified":"2021-03-25T12:17:19","modified_gmt":"2021-03-25T09:17:19","slug":"uncertainty-at-daily-monitor-as-nmg-lays-off-staff-over-covid-impact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2021\/03\/25\/uncertainty-at-daily-monitor-as-nmg-lays-off-staff-over-covid-impact\/","title":{"rendered":"Uncertainty At Daily Monitor As NMG Lays Off Staff Over COVID Impact"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Media giants Nation Media Group Uganda (NMG-U) is set to lay off workers at the end of this month, the Managing Director Tony Glencross has announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a letter issued on Thursday to all staff, Glencross says the move to lay off staff is meant to &#8220;re-organise for efficiency&#8221; and allow the the company adjust to the new digital normal brought by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He however, adds the company will be providing counseling services to help workers who have been affected to cope with what he called &#8220;the extremely difficult decision.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BELOW IS THE LETTER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"649\" height=\"935\" src=\"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/978d829b-08e2-4af4-b03d-d90fb769bd51.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22643\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/978d829b-08e2-4af4-b03d-d90fb769bd51.jpg 649w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/978d829b-08e2-4af4-b03d-d90fb769bd51-208x300.jpg 208w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/978d829b-08e2-4af4-b03d-d90fb769bd51-360x519.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 649px) 100vw, 649px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The move is set to affect the company&#8217;s other media outlets including KFM, NTV Uganda among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Glencross says the firm seeks to establish its strength in the mobile publishing landscape while exploring other revenue streams in the digital space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the light of the COVID-19 outbreak, all the major media houses have shifted to digital publications as readers stay or work from home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Advertisers have also changed their preferences to digital platforms, forcing media houses to rework their marketing and advertising teams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Media giants Nation Media Group Uganda (NMG-U) is set to lay off workers at the end of this month, the Managing Director Tony Glencross has announced.
