Tanzanian opposition leader Tundu Lissu questioned President John Magufuli\u2019s whereabouts, as speculation swirled on social media that he\u2019s fallen ill and been admitted to hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe president\u2019s well-being is a matter of grave public concern,\u201d Lissu said in a tweet Tuesday. He cited public announcements of previous Tanzanian leaders\u2019 illnesses, before asking: \u201cWhat\u2019s it with Magufuli that we don\u2019t deserve to know?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lissu\u2019s remark came after\u00a0FichuaTanzania<\/a>, a human rights group, reported that Magufuli traveled to neighboring Kenya to receive treatment at a hospital in the capital, Nairobi. It urged Tanzania\u2019s government to provide an official comment on the report. Kenya\u2019s The\u00a0Nation<\/a>\u00a0newspaper reported that an African leader had been\u00a0admitted to a Nairobi hospital. It said it could not reveal his name as government officials from both Kenya and the leader\u2019s home nation had declined to provide official confirmation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Magufuli, 61, has ruled the East African nation since November 2015.
