{"id":21868,"date":"2021-02-23T13:29:36","date_gmt":"2021-02-23T10:29:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=21868"},"modified":"2021-02-23T13:29:39","modified_gmt":"2021-02-23T10:29:39","slug":"rwanda-rebel-group-denies-killing-italian-diplomat-in-dr-congo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2021\/02\/23\/rwanda-rebel-group-denies-killing-italian-diplomat-in-dr-congo\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwanda Rebel Group Denies Killing Italian Diplomat In DR Congo"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Hutu rebel group, known as the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), has denied any role in Monday&#8217;s killing of&nbsp;<strong>I<\/strong>taly&#8217;s ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Luca Attanasio, 43,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-africa-56151600\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&nbsp;died in hospital after the United Nations convoy he was travelling in came under fire<\/a>&nbsp;near the eastern town of Goma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An Italian military police officer travelling with the envoy and a Congolese driver were also killed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DR Congo&#8217;s interior ministry accused the FDLR rebel group of being behind the attack<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the group&#8217;s spokesman has denied the accusation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMore than 100 armed groups operate here, we don\u2019t know why they linked us.
