{"id":21653,"date":"2021-02-15T14:07:20","date_gmt":"2021-02-15T11:07:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=21653"},"modified":"2021-02-15T14:07:24","modified_gmt":"2021-02-15T11:07:24","slug":"bobi-wine-petition-kabuleta-swears-affidavit-to-support-election-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2021\/02\/15\/bobi-wine-petition-kabuleta-swears-affidavit-to-support-election-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"BOBI WINE PETITION: Kabuleta Swears Affidavit To Support Election Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former Presidential candidate, Joseph Kabuleta has sworn an affidavit in support of Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine&#8217;s legal challenge of last month&#8217;s presidential election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kabuleta who participated in the same election, tweeted on Monday a copy of his affidavit that was received on Sunday 14th February by the Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This morning I handed in my sworn affidavit in support of Bobi Wine case in the Supreme Court. Now let&#8217;s see how this pans out,&#8221; Kabuleta tweeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results released by the Electoral Commission gave Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, a candidate of the National Resistance Movement-NRM party, a 58 percent majority victory, against Kyagulanyi\u2019s score of 35 percent in a race that attracted 11 candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, Bobi Wine petitioned the Supreme Court asking it to quash the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week, at a Pre-trial hearing, the Supreme Court set March 18th as the date it will deliver judgment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat we want from the court is nullification of that election where Museveni was declared. We do not want him to participate in elections in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/uganda\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Uganda<\/a>&nbsp;again because he is an agent of violence,\u201d said Medard Ssegona, the lead lawyer acting on behalf of Wine and his National Unity Platform party (NUP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAll elections he has participated in have been violent elections. He is a common denominator in the electoral violence of this country.
