A drone also described as An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV<\/em>) is an aircraft without a human pilot on board. Ordinarily, thats the meaning. However, in Uganda, the drone has become synonymous with tales of kidnappings and torture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A van with tinted dark glasses is now being referred to as the drone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party accuses government of kidnapping its supporters and torturing them with most suspected to have been taken using the so called drone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NUP puts the number of those missing at 3000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, Internal Affairs Minister Gen Jeje Odongo told Parliament that the government is only aware of 31 missing persons whose whereabouts they are yet to establish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said a total of 44 reported kidnappings had been recorded at several police stations but only 13 had been investigated conclusively by the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
