{"id":21383,"date":"2021-02-08T12:16:39","date_gmt":"2021-02-08T09:16:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=21383"},"modified":"2021-02-08T12:16:47","modified_gmt":"2021-02-08T09:16:47","slug":"vomiting-blood-strange-illness-reported-in-south-western-tanzania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2021\/02\/08\/vomiting-blood-strange-illness-reported-in-south-western-tanzania\/","title":{"rendered":"VOMITING BLOOD: Strange Illness Reported In South-western Tanzania"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>An unidentified illness has been reported in south-western Tanzania by local media where patients are said to vomit blood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Health officials in Chunya district are quoted as saying that some victims died within hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The health ministry said it had sent a team of experts to investigate the reports but ruled out any epidemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Health Minister Dorothy Gwajima has suspended the local district chief medical officer who was quoted by local media as confirming the illness,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecitizen.co.tz\/tanzania\/news\/tanzania-health-minister-orders-suspension-of-medical-expert-over-strange-disease-report-3282978\">the Citizen newspaper reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ministry said it had established that the symptoms exhibited had been reported from as early as 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It urged the public to remain calm as it investigates and promised to provide more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tanzania has been accused of downplaying the scale of the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tanzanians have been urged to boost their immunity with herbal remedies in the face of the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government has not provided any evidence that herbal remedies are effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President John Magufuli declared the country virus free and the ministry said it had no plans to order vaccines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>BBC News Africa<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An unidentified illness has been reported in south-western Tanzania by local media where patients are said to vomit blood.
