{"id":21164,"date":"2021-01-29T19:50:48","date_gmt":"2021-01-29T16:50:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=21164"},"modified":"2021-01-29T19:50:51","modified_gmt":"2021-01-29T16:50:51","slug":"educating-girls-key-to-tackling-global-warming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2021\/01\/29\/educating-girls-key-to-tackling-global-warming\/","title":{"rendered":"Educating girls &#8216;key to tackling global warming&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Educating girls is key element to fighting climate change, Ugandan activist Vanessa Nakate has told the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/p00w940j\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC&#8217;s Newsday programme<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;When we educate girls it doesn&#8217;t only benefit the individual but it cascades into her family and her community,&#8221; Ms Nakate &#8211; who is the founder of Rise Up Africa &#8211; said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;These are tomorrows leaders, campaigners and scientists, we have seen girls leading the climate change movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fight against climate change is getting new impetus from the US, where President Joe Biden is determined to undo many of his predecessor&#8217;s policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ms Nakate is one of the best known of the new generation of campaigners against global warming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last year she made headlines around the world after she was cropped out of a photograph taken with her white peers, including Sweden\u2019s Greta Thunberg, in Davos.
