On 14th January, Uganda held presidential and parliamentary elections that left many political careers cast the bins of history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FACTS ABOUT 2021 ELECTIONS
1. No Minister was re – elected in Buganda Sub Region\u00a0
2. Of all the districts in Western Uganda and Buganda, only Ntoroko district and Buhweju district had all their MPs being re – elected ie\u00a0Hon Anne Tumwine (Woman MP)\u00a0Hon Rwemulikya Ibanda (Ntoroko County MP)&Oliver Koyekyenga (Woman MP Buhweju)Francis Mwijukye (Buhweju East)
3. The biggest casualties were in Kiruhura\/Kazo district where all the incumbent MPs lost. Even in Rukungiri, Rwampara, Masindi and Luwero, all incumbent MPs were voted out\u00a0
4. Of the 5 Youth MPs, only 2 made it back to Parliament ie Western Youth MP Hon Mwine Mpaka Rwamirama (now Mbarara South MP, NRM) & National Female Youth MP Hon Adeke Anna Ebaju (now Soroti district Woman MP, FDC)
5. Kampala City only had 2 MPs out of 9 being re – elected ie Hon Allan Ssewanyana (Makindye West, NUP) & Hon Muhammad Nsereko (Kampala Central, IND)
6. Wakiso District wasn’t spared either. Of the 9 MPs in the district, only 2 were re – elected ie Hon Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda (Kiira Municipality, FDC) & Hon Medard Lubega Ssegona (Busiro East, NUP)
7. For the Women MPs, in the 13 districts that make up Ankole, only 2 Women MPs made it back to Parliament ie Hon Oliver Koyekyenga (Buhweju) & Grace Kesande (Rubirizi).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Katerera county MP Hatwib Katooto lost to his very own young brother Mohammed Katooto
9. Ntungamo Municipality MP Gerald Karuhanga lost to his brother – in – law Yona Musinguzi Bikwatsizehi
10. For the first time, NRM has no single MP on the Masaka – Kampala – Jinja highway. From Kakira in Jinja to Kinoni in Lwengo, no NRM candidate was elected
11. New Mbarara North MP Robert Mwesigwa Rukaari won at all polling stations in the constituency, both in the NRM Primaries when he defeated incumbent Michael Tusiime and in the General elections, when he defeated Independent candidate Tumusiime Apollo Rutaaba
12. Kashongi county MP Genensio Tumuramye was leading after results from 40 of the 41 polling stations in the constituency were tallied but still lost his seat to NRM’s Herbert Tayebwa after results from the final polling station were declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
