If they do not want to corporate, they shall not operate here. I am sure government has already closed social media,&#8221; President Museveni who was clad in military jacket said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The social media site has been blocked in Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His comments come on the heels of a war between Uganda and Facebook over the latter&#8217;s decision to close accounts of pro-government officials accusing them of manipulating the site ahead of the presidential elections on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, microblogging site Twitter has spoken out on the blocked social media platforms in Uganda saying the actions by the Kampala government &#8220;are hugely harmful, violate basic human rights and the principles of the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/OpenInternet?src=hashtag_click\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#OpenInternet<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Ahead of the Ugandan election, we&#8217;re hearing reports that Internet service providers are being ordered to block social media and messaging apps.
