Opposition leaders have accused NRM MPs of bribing Constituents such that they can endorse the amendment of Article 102(b) of the constitution of Republic of Uganda.<\/p>\n
During the joint press conference at FDC Headquarters in Najjanankumbi, opposition leaders revealed that NRM MPs were dishing money to Constituents.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no doubt that this is bribery. Peoples consent is being achieved or procured through bribery and as a country, this is something that we don\u2019t want,\u201d said Asuman Basalilwa of Jeema Party.<\/p>\n
He added that; \u201cAs Chairman Mao said, this is Politics of Pay as you go. You find people you give the money.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this lifting of Age limit it\u2019s something that we condemn and we won\u2019t tolerate in this country because it\u2019s taking us nowhere.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you Ugandans hear that any member has called up a consultation, whether NRM or not, all of you must go and demand to be consulted, let them put the question and you put up your hand,\u201d supplemented the FDC acting president Alice Alaso.<\/p>\n
NRM Secretariat Spokesperson Rogers Mulindwa rubbished the claims saying the money is meant to facilitate their constituents.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you have some party members, buy them some food, buy them some water, and give them some transport refund. Don\u2019t just leave them like that,\u201d opined Mulindwa before adding that; \u201cIf they don\u2019t have the resources, it\u2019s upon them for us we have the funds.\u201d<\/p>\n
He further slummed the opposition saying that they don\u2019t have structures so they can\u2019t meet their leaders at a grass root level.<\/p>\n
