Police has refuted the claims of torturing Ssebuufu Edward alias Eddie Mutwe and Buken Ali aka Nubian Li, who are currently in police custody in Masaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two and other 88 National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters were arrested in Kalangala last week after they had accompanied their principal Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine on his campaign trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After spending few days in detention, the fake pictures of the two have been making round on social media showing how they are in critical condition after being tortured by police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, police refuted the claims of double torture, adding that NUP supporters are spreading lies with the aim of tainting the image of the force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe would like to refute the false propaganda that photographs of alleged torture, spread on social media are of two suspects namely; Ssebuufu Edward alias Eddie Mutwe and Buken Ali alias Nubian Lee, who are in police custody in Masaka,\u201d police statement reads in parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe believe the accounts of torture are fabricated to taint the image of the forces and also capture media headlines. We would like to disclose these sickening allegations by sharing images of the two suspects, that were obtained today while lifting their fingerprints,\u201d the statement adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police said there is a lawful procedure undertaken when suspects are being processed for court and for future criminal record purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
