The National Resistance Movement (NRM)party has started facilitating its flag bearers at different levels in the ongoing campaigns towards the January 2021 General Elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In December 21 2020 circular sent to the district party chairpersons, NRM Secretary General, Justine Kasule Lumumba said the money is strictly for logistic and materials for campaigns with beneficiaries getting half of the allocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The money disbursed ranges from Shs100,000 for LC3 councillors to Shs80million for National MPs for Special Interest Groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a letter written by Lumumba the money has been disbursed to NRM district offices from where it shall be given to the different flagbearers in the respective districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis contribution from the party is strictly meant to facilitate procurement of campaign logistics and materials to support your respective campaign efforts, including procurement of posters, transport, airtime, water and refreshments for task forces and campaign agents,\u201d the memo reads in parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the memo, each constituency candidate is entitled to the facilitation of Shs40million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the memo, the party national Special Interest Group parliamentary candidates will pocket Shs80million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are four of candidates in this category who will receive Shs320million altogether.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rest of the 16 Special Interest Group parliamentary candidates who represent the country\u2019s four regions will bag Shs60million each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This translates to Shs840million for the 16 NRM party candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The memo also notes that the party will reimburse the Shs3million nomination fees paid by each candidate to the Electoral Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This will cost the party Shs1.587billion for the 529 candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the 10 city mayoral candidates, the memo said each will receive Shs60million which translates to Shs600million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, each of the 146 candidates for the LC V chairperson\u2019s seat will receive Shs50million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For each of the candidates for the directly elected councillor to the district or city, the party has earmarked Shs1million.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
