The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate, Patrick Oboi Amuriat, has urged security officers to refrain from taking unlawful orders while executing their duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He made the remarks as he traversed different parts of Buganda hunting for votes ahead of the general polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amuriat said if he wins the forthcoming elections, his government would not hesitate to take action against individual officers if it is proved in courts of law that their actions were unlawful while doing their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the reappointment of Lieutenant General Muhoozi Kainerugaba to head the elite presidential forces, the Special Forces Command is a desperate attempt by president Museveni to cement his grip in power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI believe Mr Museveni is preparing to retain power because he knows, he can’t win these elections. We are not worried about the army. I want to take this opportunity to ask people in uniform to remain a National Army and avoid becoming an army of Mr Museveni,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He promised to translate Museveni\u2019s unfulfilled pledges that he promised to the population during different years of elections into developmental realities once voted into power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amuriat said Museveni has promised Ugandans a lot of things which he has failed to fulfil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He cited a number of projects that he claimed have not been fully accomplished under the regime including poor healthcare, increasing land wrangles among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amuriat said Museveni pledges are political tricks he puts up to win people\u2019s votes but lacks the art of fulfilment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He promised revamping of Trade Unions for farmers to support them benefit from what they grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amuriat also received an unspecified amount of money as he campaigned from his supporters in Kayunga district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The contributions were raised after several supporters spontaneously started handing money to the barefoot presidential candidate during his speech at Kangulumira playground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am glad to receive this contribution. We need to liberate Uganda together, thank you very much people of Kayunga,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
