Traffic flow will be\nheavy as people travel to their villages to celebrate while others will be\ndoing business,\u201d said Bazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He\nadded that; \u201cThis season is characterized by excitement leading to recklessness\non the road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe\nDirectorate of Traffic and Road Safety will revamp Fika Salama checkpoints and\nwill target the following: &#8211; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSpeeding,\nreckless and careless driving offences that are largely responsible for road\ncarnage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIncompetent\ndrivers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDriving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Vehicles in dangerous mechanical condition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBoda\nbola riders who flout traffic regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThose\nwho flout COVID 19 SOPs while on the road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCheckpoints\nwill be mounted at specific locations along the highways and they will be\nmanned 24 hours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Handling of offenders <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022\nAll offenders committing serious offences will be taken to court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022\nThe offence of failing to stop and obstructing police officers will attract\nautomatic detention. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022\nAll offenders who flout COVID 19 SOPs should be handled over to CID for\nprosecution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enforcement\nof these guidelines will be in accordance to the Traffic and Road Safety Act\n1998.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Uganda Police Force has revealed that Fika Salama operations on main highways will resume ahead of the festive season.
