The\nNRM Secretary General, Justine Kasule Lumumba has refuted allegations that she\nembezzled billions of shillings of party funds meant for campaign facilitation.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lumumba\nhas appealed to NRM supporters not to pay attention to the accusations, which\nshe says are the work of disgruntled NRM supporters and some party leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On\nissue of the allegations to do with the embezzlement of funds involving the\nSecretary General and her team, Lumumba said those are meant to derail the NRM\nsupporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018\u2019If\nyou observe the issue of money being sent to the district is changing from what\nhas been the usual way of carrying resources in hands. We have dealt with it\nthrough using bank accounts whether to the flag bearers or to the district\nstructures. The allowance we have been giving those who carry funds is now used\nas bank charges,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat used to be the facilitation for those\nwho carried funds is now used to facilitate the district, sub-county and\nvillage teams. It hurts because people had already set with budgets but please\nbear with us in this situation. We must manage under this situation because we\nare under big attack of the COVID pandemic,\u2019\u2019 She said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nsaid the allegations going on are meant to de-motivate the people who are\ncampaigning for the flag bearers and the people who are mobilising for the\nparty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPlease\ndon\u2019t be derailed. There is nobody who has taken anybody\u2019s money. There is a\nprocedure that is followed even if money is taken to the bank there is a\nprocedure that must be followed. And supporting documents are available for\nthose who wish to audit. We know that the new normal has hurt very many people\nbut let us bear we must manage.\u2019\u2019 Lumumba asserts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On\nthe issue of the presidential campaign trail, the Secretary General said the candidate\nis making a good progress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018\u2019Our\npresidential candidate Museveni has been able to cover the whole of Northern, Eastern,\nand he is now in Western Uganda. He has concluded with Ankole and now is in\nKigezi and after that he is joining Rwenzori sub-region,\u2019\u2019 Lumumba said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During\nhis campaigns, the president has also been able to commission infrastructure\nprojects in different areas of which she said are meant to facilitate trade and\nincome generation to the ordinary person in those particular areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nalso said that the candidate took off two days when she hosted the thanksgiving\nprayers and she also thanked the religious leaders who accorded time to this\ncountry and joined the president to play for this country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
