The NRM party treasurer, Rose Namayanja has tasked the police force and other enforcement agencies to stop the selective application of the COVID-19 guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Namayanja’s call came as she responded to reports that some NRM candidates, including Microfinance State Minister, Haruna Kasolo were holding open-air rallies in Kyotera, in contravention of the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday last week, minister held a massive rally in Kyotera where most of his supporters didn’t observe COVID-19 guidelines, an act that was condemned by the party leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While addressing the journalists in Kampala, Namayanja told the media that the party has asked the Police to investigate the minister who also doubles as its flag bearer, Kyotera County in Kyotera district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also gave an update on the president Museveni’s campaign trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cToday marks the 27th day of the campaigns and the NRM is proud to announce that we have covered the whole Northern and Eastern regions of Uganda. The President is set to start the next phase of the trail in Western Uganda.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She noted that last week, the President commissioned a number of markets in Soroti, Busia, Tororo and Lugazi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said these markets are meant to provide direct employment to the people in the surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Namayanja also noted that NRM District Executive Committee (DEC) members successfully commenced door-to-door campaigns in their villages together with the village committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBased on the results from the field, the door-to-door strategy is very supportive and I doubt if there is any party that has the same organizational capacity as the NRM,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat is why to us, rallies are not the only ways of campaigning and it\u2019s not by accident that we choose the village-based mobilization strategy,\u201d Namayanja added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
