The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has refuted the allegation that local singer Ronald Mayinja was paid to compose a campaign song for president Museveni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday last week, Mayinja released the \u2018Akalulu\u2019 song in which he praises the incumbent President Museveni on his achievements for Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the lyrics, Mayinja said Museveni is a father figure to the country and should be voted again because his results are tangible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mayinja\u2019s song caused trouble since he has been getting insults from opposition supporters who accuse him of being a traitor because a few months ago, he was officially unveiled as a member of National Unity Platform (NUP) led by Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent interviews, Mayinja denied joining the ruling party and urged the public to stop hurling insults because he was just doing business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, while addressing the media on Sunday in Kampala, the NRM Secretary General, Justine Kasule Lumumba, officially welcomed Mayinja to the party adding that he has done a mega tune for their candidate, president Museveni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said Mayinja has been invited to sing the song for the guests today during the launch of the NRM manifesto and denied the allegation that singer was paid to compose the song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRonald Mayinja personally and voluntarily decided to join NRM. I can confirm as the NRM Secretary General that no money was paid to him. He decided on his own and did it publicly,\u201d said Lumumba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is a sensational hit that will boost the party’s mobilisation for President Yoweri Museveni,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said after being nominated, their presidential flag bearer will launch the Party’s 2021-2026 Manifesto at Speke Resort Hotel Munyonyo starting 12 noon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere will be no processions and the public is hereby urged to abide by the EC and the Security guidelines attached to this exercise. Our members are however reminded to don yellow colours from their respective stations and follow the event live on all major media houses,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She however apologized to the party members that due to COVID-19 pandemic, only a few selected members have been invited to attend the launch of the manifesto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThese will include the CEC members; Ministers, the Manifesto Committee and the Secretariat top management among others,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
