The Uganda Peoples Congress Party has confirmed that they will not be presenting anyone for the presidency because they are still streamlining structures at the grassroot level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the party said it will be presenting 45 candidates at the parliamentary level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While addressing the media, the head of media and communications of the Akena-led UPC, they want to ensure that every village there is a structure of the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are not presenting the presidential candidate; the party is focusing on strengthening the grassroots structures. So, our aim is to strengthen grassroot mobilisation. You can’t claim for the top office when you don’t have the roots,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Faizo further said that the party has concluded the nomination exercise of its candidates at both the Local Government and Parliamentary level for the 2021 general elections successfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis time, the Uganda Peoples Congress has recorded interest from all the fourteen (14) traditional regions of the country and has nominated candidates at all levels and in line with the party president\u2019s standpoint of \u201cstrengthening our firm foundation through grassroot mobilization,”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Faizo attributed the effort to the continuous engagement with the members of the public throughout the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also asked members who were defeated in the primaries and nomination processes not to despise those who went through adding that those who were unable are all members of UPC.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
