The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has warned head teachers against inflating the registration fees for students in candidate classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The exam body charges Shs34,000 for PLE candidates, Shs164,000 for Senior Four students and Shs186,000 for Senior Six.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While addressing the media yesterday, the executive secretary of UNEB, Dan N. Odongo said most schools have made it a habit to increase the registration fees each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe strongly urge head teachers not to inflate the registration fees, claiming they are UNEB\/Registration fees,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the re-opening of schools for candidate classes, Odongo informed the candidates, teachers and parents that the registration of candidates starts started on October 22, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe process is expected to run for five weeks. We would like to emphasize that there will be no room for late registration, and therefore urge schools to ensure that all the candidates register within the given period,\u201d said Odongo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the issues regarding the change of name, Odongo said changes can only be effected if the candidate submitted the name at the time of registration, prior to taking an examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Odongo said UNEB understands that there are candidates who, for personal reasons, undergo name changes and would like to have the amendments effected on their certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs such, candidates are advised to undergo a legal name change process, submit their legal documents to UNEB, upon which a code permitting the candidate to register with the new name will be issued to the candidate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
