The President of National Unity Platform (NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine is crying out loud as their candidates are being denied a chance to appear on most of the radio stations across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bobi Wine remarks come shortly after some radio stations in Lango region under Radio Owner’s Association are reportedly locking out NUP candidates from appearing on top radio programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the report, these radio stations are fearing that their licenses could be withdrawn or equipment confiscated by Uganda Communications Commission (UCC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The radio owners reportedly claimed they received a serious of warning from UCC restricting their newsrooms from airing any NUP related activities but Ug Mirror <\/em>was unable to get immediate comment on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bobi Wine said, that is what is happening in most parts of the country not only in Lango sub region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOur coordinators and candidates are each day prohibited from appearing on radio stations and in other cases the station owners charge them very high prices so as to prevent them from appearing there,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bobi Wine claimed that last weekend, one of their candidates from Acholi was asked for Shs6million to appear for a one-hour radio talk show which is unfair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAt the same time, Mr. Simon Byabakama, the chairperson Electoral Commission talks of a scientific election! What a joke! Countrymen and women, the clock is ticking. Freedom is in sight,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Recently, Bobi Wine sued government for blocking his radio talk show in Mbale city saying that it infringed on his right to freedom of the press and other media contrary to Article 29(1a), 43(2a) of the 1995 constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kyagulanyi said the respondents violated his right to equity and freedom from discrimination contrary to article 21(1a) and 43(2a and c) of the constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He wants the respondents to personally compensate him for the violation of his rights, pay punitive damages for their high handedness and fragrant breach of the law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The President of National Unity Platform (NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine is crying out loud as their candidates are being denied a chance to appear on most of the radio stations across the country.
