The leader of National Unity Platform, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has said failure to release Museveni’s academic documents is enough that Uganda is still under military rule, a dictator in a suit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his message to Ugandans on Independence Day, Bobi Wine said it has been close to two months now ever since the Electoral Commission quickly released his academic documents and refused to release those of president Museveni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Commission came up with all sorts of excuses for not releasing Museveni’s papers but now we know why. In this Deed Poll, the man who has participated in the previous six elections, purports to legally change his names for the first time,\u201d said Kyagulanyi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kyagulanyi queried how the Electoral Commission has been nominating president Museveni all these years claiming that the circumstances show that he had never been nominated legally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWas he ever legally nominated? Is he then in office legally? Did he actually possess the required documents? The Electoral Commission which claims to be independent, why did they not release the documents and let Gen. Museveni sort out the name thing at that time?\u201d Kyagulanyi queried.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bobi Wine said Ugandans must not waste any valuable time lying to themselves that a system like this one will produce freedom on a silver platter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe shall and must struggle for it. I thank counsel Muwadda Nkunyinji who together with other lawyers are pushing this matter forward. Yet again, the emperor is naked,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lawyer Muwadda Nkunyinji had tasked the Electoral Commission to send him results of \u2018Yoweri Kaguta Museveni\u2019 and not those of \u2018Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Previously known as Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the president announced in a deed poll that he has dropped the use of any other name and will now be known as Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Muwadda demanded that the EC Chairman, Justice Simon Byabakama should release Museveni\u2019s academic documents like the commission did when another lawyer asked for documents of candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
