{"id":18993,"date":"2020-10-06T16:19:56","date_gmt":"2020-10-06T13:19:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=18993"},"modified":"2020-10-06T16:20:04","modified_gmt":"2020-10-06T13:20:04","slug":"lukwago-roots-for-promotion-of-local-tourism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2020\/10\/06\/lukwago-roots-for-promotion-of-local-tourism\/","title":{"rendered":"Lukwago Roots For Promotion Of Local Tourism"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, has implored Ugandans to embrace local tourism in order to increase domestic revenues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He made the remarks while unveiling the Impala monument, a gorilla monument in memory of \u201cRuhondeza\u201d, a male gorilla, who was a leader of Mubare group in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kampala derives its name from the animal Impala, a type of antelope which used to graze on the slopes of Mengo and some other hills of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The name \u201cHill of the Impala\u201d (Akasozi Ka Impala) was given specifically to the hill on which Captain Fredrick Lord Lugard, a British administrator, established his camp on December 18, 1890<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2016, Lukwago made a commitment regarding the promotion of Kampala as a hub for investment and tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-rounded\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Ruhondeza-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18995\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Ruhondeza-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Ruhondeza-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Ruhondeza-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Ruhondeza-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Ruhondeza-360x540.jpg 360w, https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Ruhondeza.jpg 1365w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lukwago noted that Kampala has a rich cultural heritage, beautiful land scape, good soils which need to be promoted by local tourists before thinking of foreign tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that a boost in local tourism will result into increased domestic revenues which contributed to economic growth<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, has implored Ugandans to embrace local tourism in order to increase domestic revenues.
