As the National Resistance Movement continues to carry on with its primaries, the party Electoral Commission is still receiving petitions from different candidates challenging the alleged reports of malpractice and violence in the recently concluded electoral exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to the media at the party headquarters, Dr. Tanga Odoi said most of the petitions they received lack grounds to call for cancellation of the primaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have received about 378 petitions for constituency members of parliament and woman MPs, some of them don\u2019t make meaning because someone just says my agent was pulled out, my agent was blocked from reaching on time and they bring petitions here for us to cancel election,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEven before the lawyers look at it, i can safely say those reasons you have written as petitions will not lead to the cancelation of elections,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also warned aspirants that lost in elections especially those who keep on coming to commission headquarters to stop with immediate effect because they interfere with their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDon\u2019t make this place your home because it is an office, you have given us a petition, stay away and allow us time to sort out the petitions, you are going to be invited and we get your response,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Odoi has revealed that as soon as the local council primaries are done, the party is to organise elections in the areas whose polls were halted for violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMawogola North, Mawogola West and Kigulu South where our aspirant died, we are going to announce the new dates after elections of councillors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBy 20th<\/sup>, we shall have come up with detailed announcement.
