{"id":18397,"date":"2020-09-12T20:01:29","date_gmt":"2020-09-12T17:01:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=18397"},"modified":"2020-09-12T20:01:37","modified_gmt":"2020-09-12T17:01:37","slug":"microfinance-support-centre-bosses-accused-of-stealing-shs10billion-granted-bail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2020\/09\/12\/microfinance-support-centre-bosses-accused-of-stealing-shs10billion-granted-bail\/","title":{"rendered":"Microfinance Support Centre Bosses Accused Of Stealing Shs10billion Granted Bail"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Four top Microfinance support centre (MSC) bosses who are accused of stealing teachers\u2019 SACCO money worth Shs10billion have been granted bail, Ug Mirror reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anti-Corruption Court granted a Shs30million cash bail to John Peter Mujuni, Executive Director of MSC, John Mwebembezi, the head of finance and administration, Joan Asiimwe Baryaruha, a teacher, and Julia Birungi, a lawyer and the assistant credit officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their sureties were given a non-cash bond of Shs500m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grade One Magistrate, Moses Nabende also directed the accused to deposit in court their passports and were also instructed not to go to their workplaces since investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prosecution alleges that Mujuni, Mwebembezi and Birungi between November 2019 and August 2020,<a href=\"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2020\/09\/07\/micro-finance-support-centre-swindles-teachers-money-worth-shs10bn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> stole Shs10.8billion<\/a> in installments which was part of the Shs22billion grant from the President, meant for the teachers\u2019 loan fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teachers from all walks of life were in court and they objected to the Magistrates decision of giving the suspects bail.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Four top Microfinance support centre (MSC) bosses who are accused of stealing teachers\u2019 SACCO money worth Shs10billion have been granted bail, Ug Mirror reports.
