Following rumours that have been making round on social media that Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire clashed with president Museveni over the release of Minister Mwesigwa Rukutana, the flamboyant general has denied the knowledge of such information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was alleged that Otafiire clashed with president Museveni when he ordered for the cancelation of bond Rukutana and called the president Museveni asking him to set Rukutana free, but before he could finish his explanation, Museveni just hung up on him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, in an interview on Monday evening, Otafiire refuted the claims noting that such information that is making rounds on social media is fake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Otafiire said that he has spent some good time without speaking to the president therefore such information about him is misleading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is true I went to Mbarara to visit Rukutana and we joked and he narrated to me how the whole saga unfolded and he even denies that he ever shot at any person. I even never asked for police to grant him bond because I know investigations were ongoing,\u201d he added<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It is unfair to write such false news about someone, so just treat whatever is on social media as fake,\u201d Otafiire added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rukutana who was remanded to Kakiika Prison in Mbarara District on Monday is expected to return to court today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rukutana, who is also the Rushenyi County MP was on Monday afternoon arraigned before the Ntungamo grade one magistrate and several charges including attempted murder were read to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since the grade one magistrate has no jurisdiction over the attempted murder charge, Rukutana never entered plea and is expected to appear before the Chief Magistrate later today to plead to the charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is also believed that Rukutana will also apply for bail before the Chief Magistrates Court in Ntungamo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister was arrested on Saturday together with his three bodyguards before being detained at Mbarara Central Police Station.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
