The Ministry of Health has confirmed that Uganda has registered one death of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This brings the total COVID-19 deaths to sixteen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deceased is a 60-year-old Ugandan male from Mbale District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He presented at a private health facility in Mbale District with signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and was under isolation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was then referred to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for further management where he passed on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of sixteen contacts to the deceased have so far been listed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the same vein, results from samples tested on 18th August 2020 confirmed 53 new COVID-19 cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the fifty-three confirmed cases; thirty-five are alerts and eighteen are contacts to previously confirmed cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding the thirty-two alerts; – twenty-eight are from Kampala, two from Wakiso, two from Amuru and three from Buikwe, Buvuma and Soroti<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The eighteen contacts to previously confirmed cases are broken down as follows;- ten are from Kikuube, five are from Kampala and three are from Busia, Masindi and Wakiso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eleven foreign truck drivers 10 Kenyans and 1 Rwandese tested positive for COVID-19 at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
