The Ministry of Health has announced that Uganda has registered two deaths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This brings the total COVID-19 deaths to fifteen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two fatalities are both Ugandan males aged 63 and 33 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They were admitted at Rubaga Hospital with signs and symptoms consistent with COVID -19<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the same vein, results from samples tested on 16th August 2020 confirmed sixty new cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the sixty new cases; – twenty-eight are alerts, fourteen are contacts to previously confirmed cases, fourteen are returnees and four are truck drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the twenty-eight alerts; – fifteen are from Kampala, five from Namisindwa, two from Luwero and six from Moroto, Arua, Gulu, Pader, Katakwi and Kasese<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the fourteen contacts to previously confirmed cases; – seven are from Kasese, four from Kampala, three from Arua, Masaka and Kikuube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fourteen returnees are broken down as follows; – nine from Saudi Arabia, two from Kenya, three from Germany, Oman and Ethiopia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the four truck drivers; – two arrived from South Sudan via Madi Opei while two arrived from DRC via Lia and Mpondwe Points of Entry respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twenty-one foreign truck drivers of which 11 are Kenyans, 7 are Congolese, 2 are Eritrean and 1 is Tanzanian tested positive for COVID-19 at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
