{"id":17366,"date":"2020-08-17T13:57:12","date_gmt":"2020-08-17T10:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=17366"},"modified":"2020-08-17T14:25:23","modified_gmt":"2020-08-17T11:25:23","slug":"government-threatens-to-halt-public-transport-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2020\/08\/17\/government-threatens-to-halt-public-transport-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Government Threatens To Halt Public Transport Over Increasing Cases Of COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the increasing numbers of COVID-19 especially in Kampala, government might be forced to go back on some restrictions in order to curb the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a tweet today, the Minister of Works and Transport, General Katumba Wamala said, &#8220;Fellow Ugandans, it has come to my attention that some taxi operators and motorists are not obeying #COVID-19 guidelines in place.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He went on and said that the increasing cases of community transmission may force them to halt public transport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the first COVID-19 case was reported in Kampala, it currently has 240 cumulative cases and out of the 13 deaths Uganda were registered in Kampala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All these come after arcades, taxis and boda bodas were allowed to operate again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to government, many Ugandans have become very relaxed in following the SOPs that were put in place by government and this is why there is a spike in the cases being recorded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Uganda currently has 1,500 confirmed cases, 13 deaths and 1,142 recoveries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the increasing numbers of COVID-19 especially in Kampala, government might be forced to go back on some restrictions in order to curb the spread of the virus.
