The Kole Resident District Commissioner, Johana Omara Olweny has been charged with the aggravated robbery of Shs20,000 and remanded to Alebtong government prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Johana Olweny Omara was sent on remand by Lira Grade One Magistrate Igga Adiro and charged with two counts of aggravated robbery<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is alleged that the RDC robbed Shs20,000 from a person with hearing impairment in the present Lira City in April, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He has been remanded to prison until August 27 when he will re-appear in court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Olweny was arrested from Silver Peak Hotel in Lira City on Thursday (August 13) by a team of police detectives led by the North Kyoga Regional CID officer, Mr Hamis Mugenyi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the prosecution, the RDC, who was armed on April 3, at Kakoge A in Ojwina Division (Lira city) attacked and tortured a one Ronald Opio, using a gun and robbed him of Shs20,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is alleged that Omara and others still at large on the 5th April at Ojwina Division in Lira City robbed over 300,000 shillings from two men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two charges are contrary to section 286\/6 of the penal code Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Magistrate Adiru told court that the charges are capital in nature since the accused used deadly weapon to commit the crime and can only be tried by the High Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to his worship Adiru, Omara Olweny is, however, free to apply for bail before August 27.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
