{"id":16546,"date":"2020-07-30T10:21:29","date_gmt":"2020-07-30T07:21:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=16546"},"modified":"2020-07-30T10:21:32","modified_gmt":"2020-07-30T07:21:32","slug":"government-resumes-issuance-of-passports-and-work-permits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2020\/07\/30\/government-resumes-issuance-of-passports-and-work-permits\/","title":{"rendered":"Government Resumes Issuance of Passports And Work Permits"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The government yesterday resumed countrywide issuance and registration for passports nearly four months after the service was suspended due to Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Obiga Kania, the State minister for Internal Affairs, told journalists at Uganda Media Centre that following the partial easing of the Covid-19 induced lockdown, the ministry will resume the services but not at full capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The minister said citizens who wish to apply for passports should use the online service and wait to be invited for interviews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThose who applied for passports before Covid-19 but their applications were queried will receive messages inviting them to answer the queries and those who want to certify their passports should also do so online,\u201d Mr Kania said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that all those who applied for passports before Covid-19 lockdown will be called to pick their passports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Foreigners whose visas expired should wait until passenger flights and borders are reopened, according to the minister.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The government yesterday resumed countrywide issuance and registration for passports nearly four months after the service was suspended due to Covid-19.
