Professor Mahmood Mamdani has been appointed\u00a0 the new chancellor of Kampala International University (KIU).\u00a0He replaces Prof John. M. P. Sebuwufu, whom the university says served diligently and with total commitment, for which the University is greatly appreciative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, the university said it will benefit immensely from his wealth of research that Prof. Mamdani comes with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere is no doubt that the choice of Prof. Mamdani is meritorious and well deserving. He has influenced global higher education and other aspects of human development,\u201d reads the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKIU will immensely benefit from his rich academic, professional and international repute. KIU, remains the leading Private University in Uganda.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Board of Trustees, University Council, University Senate and Management, Student Guild Union, staff, students and all KIU stakeholders to congratulate Prof. Mamdani for the appointment as Chancellor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is known by many in Uganda, for his bold political commentary, is currently serving in other institutions, including as director of the Makerere Institute of Social Research (MISR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He has published a number of academic materials, with the latest being \u2018Neither Settler Nor Native: The Making and Unmaking of Permanent Minorities, Cambridge, Mass: Harvard University Press, November printing\u2019, which was published this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
