Police have arrested two security guards for allegedly robbing Ugx 100 million from a businessman they were guarding in Kamwokya, Central Division, a city suburb, after 10 days of pursuit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Kampala metropolitan police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire,the two guards attached to Tight Security Company Limited were arrested in a hotel in Kaabong district where they were hiding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the force recovered Ugx 50m of the Ugx 100m in possession of the suspects and it has been exhibited. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Alex Abok and Anthony Ayor, the suspects put Kunal Sethi, 35, a gold dealer, on gunpoint and robbed him of Ugx 100m at his office in Kamwokya,\u00a0 on July 9, 2020.The two suspects later fled and have been in hiding,” Owoyesigyire said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said by the use of their technical teams and intelligence units, the force was able to locate the suspects in the Karamoja region where they were arrested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The duo have been conveyed from Kaabong district to Jinja Road Police Station in Kampala Capital City for investigation. They are being held on offences of aggravated robbery,”he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Owoyesigyire condemned the acts of private security guards turning their guns at clients, whom they are supposed to protect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged private security companies to be very vigilant in the recruitment of their guards to ensure that people with criminal behaviors are not employed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
