A woman Member of Parliament for Kiryandongo district, Kahunde Hellen is reported to have tested positive for the coronavirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is said that Kahunde contracted the virus after interacting closely with a family member who recently returned from abroad at one of the quarantine centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The legislator is currently undertaking treatment at Mulago National Referral Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHon Kahunde felt unwell before volunteering to take a test at Mulago where she is currently being admitted, \u201ca source told Ug Mirror today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because of this, legislators will starting tomorrow be tested for the virus, which has so far been confirmed in 1043 people in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga said the exercise of testing is to be conducted by the Ministry of Health- starting on Thursday, 16 July 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hon. Kahunde becomes the first lawmaker to test positive for the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
