A joint security task force yesterday impounded 200 motorcycles as they were in violation of the presidential directives stopping them from carrying passengers as a way to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While addressing journalists in Kampala, police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, urged the public to comply with the Ministry of health guidelines because the pandemic is still present in the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The joint security Taskforce would like to remind all Ugandans that we have responsibility to remain vigilant to mitigate the spread of pandemic.We have impounded 20 vehicles who have been flouting there guidelines and then we have impounded 232 motorcycles,”he said. He also added that 106 people had been apprehended for failure to observe these precautionary measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Enanga also warned all people planning to demonstrate against the continued lockdown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson,Patrick Onyango ,riders have been violating ministry of Health guidelines where they are not supposed to carry passengers since it could lead to spread of the virus due to lack of social distance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Several riders and passengers were arrested and detained at various police stations in Kampala Metropolitan Police area,”he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Onyango said the suspects will be charged with disobedience of lawful orders and doing acts likely to spread infectious disease which is COVID-19.He appealed to motorcyclists to stop carrying passengers and to only carrying luggages<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
