The Ministry of Water and Environment has partnered with World Vision, IRC and Unilever Uganda to provide hand washing material in urban areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the commissioner Ministry of Water and Environment, Eng. Joseph Eyatu Oriano, this being done to enable people to have universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that in spite of the emergence of COVID-19 , the countries hand washing coverage is still very low with the rural areas standing at 36% and 40% in urban<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“In response to COVID-9 ,the National hand washing initiative has received support from water supply and sanitation collaborated council through World Vision inform of information, education materials, hand-washing facilities as well as soap to be distributed to vulnerable people,” he said while addressing the media on Tuesday in Kampala. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also noted that they are targeting traffic officers who are in the high risk of contracting the pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Joanita Mukasa, the managing director Unilever Uganda said that most people have embraced hand washing which a the right way to move. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“People have embraced a lot of hygiene and consumption habit.We want to reach to all the people to ensure that they are safe,”she said. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
