The Archbishop of church of Uganda ,Rev. Dr. Steven Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu,has warned security forces over mishandling and unnecessary shooting of innocent citizens. He made the remarks while presiding over Sunday service at his house in Namirembe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He called upon security officers to always observe professional ethics while exercising their duty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The remarks come after the death of the South Rwenzori Anglican Church Minister Ordinand Benon Musiimenta who was shot by an armed officer on unclear circumstances while heading to his farm. He is said to have died of a cardiac arrest after the shooting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kaziimba said it is unfortunate to see the officers who are mandated to protect the lives of Ugandans are doing the contrary.”It looks so bad that UPDF, LDUs and others who are supposed to protect our people,some of them are not disciplined.i wonder why people are not careful to fire at unarmed people.like this man was stopped and shot,”he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that justice should prevail over the death of the Musiimenta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The leadership of the armed forces, you should really take care of that to ensure that these people who did such act are disciplined because they are supposed to protect and guard the civilians,”he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the UPDF regretted the incident and promised to investigate the matter to ensure that the perpetrator is brought to book. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the same service,the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) also expressed concern over the spread of false teachings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Conference, which brings together 11 Anglican provinces across 6 continents, was formed back in 2008 in a move to guard against the decision by the Church of England to support same-sex marriage and gay clergy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Alison Barefoot, the Assistant to the archbishop for International Relations said,the virus which is destroying the Anglican Church is the spread false gospel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She asked the church to continue spreading the gospel across the world in accordance with the biblical teachings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said there are 11 provinces in the Anglican Communion that have allowed gay and lesbian people to be ordained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The solution is better governance structure that will guard the faith and protect the Anglican brand so that it is globally known for biblical teaching,”she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kaziimba also called upon the church to refrain from false teachings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We as the clergy of church of Uganda, we shall continue spreading the gospel and we shall not accept teaching that stray away from the Bible.once the word of God is corrupted anything can happen,”he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
