Movie star Idris Elba will on Monday evening host a star-studded virtual concert to mark Africa Day and raise funds to feed the continent’s hungry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The MTV Base Africa Day Benefit Concert at Home will host the continent’s top music stars including Ang\u00e9lique Kidjo, Burna Boy, Salif Keita, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Diamond Platnumz and Sauti Sol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It will be streamed on YouTube and ViacomCBS Networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Idris Elba told the BBC’s Newsday programme:Quote Message: The priority is to try and get as many real-time meals into people’s mouths. At the moment hunger is the main fear as opposed to actual Covid-19<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The actor, whose late father grew up in Sierra Leone and whose mother is from Ghana, tested positive for coronavirus in March and has since recovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Africa Day is an annual commemoration of the formation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) on 25 May 1963. The organisation transformed into the African Union on 9 July 2002.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
