The Ministry of Health confirms three (3) new cases of COVID-19 out of the 419 samples that were tested at Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI), Yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases to 48 in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The confirmed cases were in quarantine at the time of test and did not show any signs and symptoms of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new cases include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. A 33-year-old Ugandan male, resident of Mengo. Kampala who arrived from the United States of America (USA) on 18 March, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2. A. 37-year-old Ugandan female who arrived from Dubai, UAE on 22nd<\/sup> March 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. A 54 year old Indian male, resident of Bugolobi. Kampala who arrived from Dubai, UAE on 20th<\/sup> March 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Ministry of Health surveillance team is also investigating and verifying an alert received from Kasubi Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Investigation details will be communicated as and when they are concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To-date, 1,009 individuals are under institutional quarantine and under follow up while 887 contacts to the confirmed cases are also under follow up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Individuals who have completed their 14-days of institutional quarantine and have since tested Negative for COV1D-19 will be released to go home, if the quarantine centre has not registered any positive case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Those to be discharged will be issued with their test result forms and certificates of completion of the 14-day quarantine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The process for discharge starts today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, individuals at canters where positive cases were confirmed will have undergone another count of 14 days of institutional quarantine from the day the positive was evacuated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This decision was based on guidance from Scientific Advisory Committee to interrupt the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All the 45 confirmed COVID-19 cases in stable condition at Mulago Specialised Hospital, Entebbe Grade 13 Hospital, Adjumani and Hoima hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Uganda has NOT registered any COVID-19 related death.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Ministry of Health confirms three (3) new cases of COVID-19 out of the 419 samples that were tested at Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI), Yesterday.
