The\nSecurity Inter-Agency Joint Task Force has on 29 March 2020 arrested two\npastors and twenty-six of their congregation for defying the Presidential\nDirective banning religious gatherings in the country for 32 days as a measure\nof curbing the spread of COVID 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nsuspects were picked from two places in Kampala Metropolitan Area while\ncongregated for Sunday Prayers, an act that can promote the spread of the\nCorona Virus in the Country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One\nPastor Immaculate Biyinzika of Praise Jesus Worship Church together with 20\nworshipers were picked by Police from Makandwa Kajjansi in Wakiso District and\nare detained at Kajjansi Police Station, whereas, Pastor Moses Baker of Alter\nTruth Ministries of Komamboga Kyanja was picked along with six followers by\nIntelligence Surveillance Team and detained at Kira Road Police Station. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other\nsuspects escaped arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pastor\nBiyinzika tried to resist arrest on defence that she was praying with only her\nfamily members at her home which is collocated with the Church. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However,\nPolice found the Pastor collecting offertory and her congregation was far\nbigger than her residence could accommodate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe\nTask Force appeals to all Ugandans to join the national struggle to defeat\nCOVID 19 pandemic in the country by following the preventive guideline issued\nby Government,\u201d said Police spokesperson Fred Enanga. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
