A\ntotal of 30 Police officers from Uganda Police Band have been awarded with\ncertificates in music in a function officiated by The Deputy Inspector General\nof Police, Sabiiti Muzeyi at The Uganda Police Band Headquarters in Nsambya on\n17th March 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nDeputy Inspector General of Police congratulated the graduands upon completion\nof the six-month course which involved a lot of sacrifice and hard work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nDeputy IGP also promised to offer all the necessary support to the department\nto enable it operate smoothly and achieve its objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\nshall offer you all the support needed in order to operate and develop your\ncareer, even the expansion policy at regional level will be looked into.\u201d He\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This\nwas after the Acting Director Music Dance and Drama Superintendent of police\nOkwi Okedi revealed that there is need to establish regional headquarters to\nreduce on ware and tear of the instruments, time wastage and resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So\nfar only one centre is operational which is based in North Kyoga Region and\nmore are expected to be established.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nDeputy IGP also urged the officers to work hard, love their country and ensure\nthat there is peace in the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nappreciated the fact that they learned Swahili a widely growing language that\nis spoken in East and Central Africa that will help to unite with our neighbours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Okwi\nalso revealed that the unit is planning to open up a studio and an academy for\ntalent development that will help in job creation and growth of talent on those\nthat may get an opportunity to be trained. He therefore asked for support\nthrough the Deputy Inspector General of Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Out\nof the 30 graduands 05 are female and 25 male. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They\nfinished the music course from Kampala Music School which is examined by The\nAssociated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) based in London, United\nKingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\npractical exams saw the officers graduate in different grades and in different\ninstruments like; Trumpet, tenor Saxophone, Piano, Trombone, Tuba, E Flat Horn\namong others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
