People\nPower Movement led by Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi wine has accused\nPolice force of killing their supporters and deliberately concealing the video\nfootages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nremarks followed the death of Nabukenya Ritah, the renowned People Power supporter\nand Denis Kyeyune who were allegedly killed in the areas with CCTV cameras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing\nthe media on Monday in Kampala, the leader of People Power women league, Flavia\nKalule said the political pressure group shall not rest the matter until police\nproduce the CCTV footages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\ncondemned the unlawful action of police noting that the force is running away\nfrom its responsibility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We\ndemand that Uganda Police produces footages of the CCTV cameras around Nakawa a\nsuburb where Ritah was murdered and Nansana where Kyeyune was murdered in cold\nblood,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nnoted that the reason given by police that the cameras were not working on that\nday should not be a logical conclusion and the investigations into the matter\nmust continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kalule\ndemanded for the decisive actions to be made to find out the group of people\nwho are killing their supporters citing the cases of Yasin Kawuma, Ziggy Wine\namong others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nsaid the pressure group is contemplating on taking the matter to the courts of\nlaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nfurther said that if Police fails to put their demand into consideration\nespecially the killing of Ugandans, People Power movement is ready to take any\naction to acquire justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We\nare planning something as women of Uganda, we are going to mobilise ourselves,\nwe are going to do whatever it takes, they will teargas us, they will arrest us\nbut we are going to be on the front and we are going to encourage every Ugandan\nout there,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However,\naddressing the weekly press briefing in Kampala on Monday, the police\nspokesperson Fred Enanga highlighted that at the time of fatal accident optical\nfibres were not connected due to the ongoing construction in the area which\nmade the network unstable and could not pick anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The\nincident was not captured on the CCTV camera along Nakawa Naguru road, it was\nnot working due to disruption on the fibre optic underground cables that are\nbeing laid due to construction works,” he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
