President Yoweri Museveni has congratulated His\nGrace Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu on his elevation as the new Archbishop\nof the Province of the Church of Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President, accompanied by his wife Mrs. Janet Museveni, was today speaking at St. Paul\u2019s Cathedral Namirembe in Kampala during the ceremony of the enthronement and installation of Dr. Kaziimba as the 9th<\/sup> Archbishop of the Church of Uganda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He has replaced his immediate predecessor, the Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali who, after reaching the mandatory of age of 65 years for a Church of Uganda Archbishop, has had to retire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI congratulate our good friend Archbishop Kaziimba\nfor the elevation to the Archbishop of the church of Uganda,\u201d the President\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The new Archbishop was on 28th<\/sup> August\n2019 elected by the House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda as the 9th<\/sup>\nArchbishop of Uganda and Bishop of Kampala Diocese effective today. Dr.\nKaziimba Mugalu was Anglican Bishop of Mityana Diocese from 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Addressing the congregation at the new\nArchbishop\u2019s enthronement and installation ceremony at St. Paul\u2019s Cathedral\ntoday, President Museveni commended the work of Dr. Kaziimba Mugalu while he\nserved as Bishop of Mityana Diocese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI can be a witness that he indeed did a good job\nin Mityana. I am sure he will spread it\nto the whole of Uganda,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr. Museveni used the occasion to thank the outgoing\nArchbishop, the Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali as well as former Archbishop Henry\nLuke Orombi, for their great contributions to the Church of Uganda, especially the\nChurch House and other infrastructure projects that, he observed, will help the\nchurch in Uganda to be self reliant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He reiterated the NRM Government\u2019s long-time belief in freedom of worship of all people adding that as Christians, there is need to influence others by example. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He noted unlike in the past where people were killing each other on account of belonging to different religions, there is now a well-structured body of the Inter religious Council in the country; adding that this was good in making people live in harmony in accordance with the teaching of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The President highlighted two important elements of Christianity as being assurance about Jesus\u2019 resurrection and unconditional forgiveness and love for all our enemies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The visiting Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev.
