President\nYoweri Museveni has stressed that the people of Europe and of Africa should\nappreciate and value much the fact that when one buys one\u2019s products, he or she\nis doing a lot in supporting the prosperity of the seller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere\nhas been a lot of sleeping among Europeans and Africans. If one buys your\nproduct, he is supporting your prosperity,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nPresident made the comments today at State House, Entebbe when he received a\nGerman delegation of investors that was led by the German Ambassador to Uganda,\nDr. Albrecht Conze. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister\nfor Information, ICT and Communications, Hon. Judith Nabakooba and of State for\nPlanning, Hon. David Bahati, attended the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\ndelegation briefed President Museveni on the progress of their investment\nportfolios in Uganda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\ndelegation included the Johs Gram-Hanssen Group that is involved in\nshipbuilding, which has also supplied a number of ferries that are plying Lake\nVictoria, Lake Kyoga and River Nile. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\ncompany\u2019s Uganda Country representative, George Mwebembezi, represented the\nGroup at the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nPresident used the occasion to urge the venture in security printing to carry\nout all the printing chores locally and save Uganda large expenses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nnoted that Uganda has been spending US$70 million per annum in printing the\ncurrency notes abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He reiterated his desire to utilize modern technology in building houses from materials made of rice straw after being informed that the German investors were progressing in using straw from rice in Nwoya District for purposes of construction of houses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that once they prove that the technology is resistant to termite attacks, he would give them the green light to build houses for teachers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nGerman Envoy to Uganda, Dr. Albrecht Conze, reported that a German firm, which\nis involved in the development of Bukasa Inland Port, is making steady and\nappreciable progress in that venture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nassured the President that the facility would definitely be a success because\nof the well-appreciated fact that water transport is relatively cheaper than\nroad transport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ambassador\nConze also said that one of the German firms has won a contract to build the\n60-km Atiak Laroki Road in Northern Uganda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During\nthe meeting, 2 coffee processing companies \u2013 Kawere Coffee and Ibero Ugand \u2013\nreported the progress of their ventures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ibero\nUganda disclosed that the firm has provided planting materials, including\nfertilizers, to Ugandan coffee farmers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\nwas revealed that 70 farmer groups have benefited from the service of receipt of\nmaterials in the coffee production sector in the country and that plans were\nunder way to attract more investors who have the capacity to roast and process\ncoffee for the export market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\nwas further revealed that the German coffee investors are targeting to fund\n45,000 farmers within the next 3 years. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
