His death was confirmed by his press\nsecretary Lee Njiru and announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta. &nbsp;He has asked that the national flags are drawn\nat half-mast from today until the late is laid to rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was hospital led for over a month at Nairobi Hospital. He\nruled Kenya for 24 years until 2002 where he handed over to President Mwai\nKibaki. He was also Kenya\u2019s longest serving president after taking over power\nfrom President Jomo Kenyatta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end of his regime, Kenya had the most developed economy in East Africa.
