The Ministry of Water and Environment have accused the Judiciary of\nfrustrating their efforts to conserve and protect wetlands in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While addressing the media in Kampala on Wednesday, the water and\nenvironment Minister Sam Cheptoris noted that wetland encroachers always\nseek court injunctions whenever there are attempts to evict them off the\nwetlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the level of environmental degradation has moved down from 13%\nin 1994 to 8.9%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We need to step back and think as Ugandans about what will happen\nto our wetlands if the current trend of degradation is not halted, “he\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged the court to join hands in protecting and conserving\nenvironment across the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Some of these people when we try to evict them, go to court and obtain court order, this somehow frustrated our work.We need to step back and think as Ugandans about what will happen to our wetlands if the current trend of degradation is not halted, “he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
