The DP parliamentary caucus wants the Inspector General of Government to\ninvestigate the alleged misuse of funds remitted to DP by the electoral\ncommission under the political parties\u2019 organization Act. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
MPs led by their Chief whip Joseph Ssewungu, claim the party receives a quarterly release of 370 billion shillings, whose accountability is not known. The disgruntled members of parliament accused their party president Norbert Mao of mismanaging the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We have seen the party president embarking into personal consultations for possible candidature without going through the due process of the party. We tried internally to raise these questions and see if it could be addressed, so this is the time to let the entire membership know the issues we have been undertaking because we have been accused of not addressing these issues publicly.”Ssewungu said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also added; \u201cWe as parliamentarians demand with immediate effect that the party president comes out and explains the confusion of party cards and distribution of registers,” he said\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ssewungu claimed that the party president failed to put the party in order. As the party prepares for its delegate conference, Mps also accused Robert Mao of frustrating grass root elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We request the party to allow the process of filling the vacant positions,” he said\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, Gerald Siranda, the DP secretary general said the move taken by these legislators is politically motivated. Hon Mpuuga and the rest are coordinators of people power so they may not properly understand how a party functions because their allegiance is somewhere,he adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He however backed Mao on his consultation ahead of 2021 general elections. “The question whether Hon Mao is consulting, is right for me.
