A\nconcerned citizen has expressed his dissatisfaction with Centenary Bank on how\nthey are handling the issue of his father who lost Shs8million in ATM fraud\nthat was aided by the banks Askari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nexpressed himself about the bad customer care at Centenary Bank through Kakensa\nMedia Facebook Page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here\nis the full story on how the fraud was committed;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Am\ncomplaining about the bad customer care at Centenary Bank. My complaint is as follows;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As\nwe were traveling from Mbarara, we stopped at Centenary cooperate Branch,\nMbarara. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\nwas with my Father, Mr Tumuhimbise Timothy, an old man 76 years of age, we\nstopped so that we could withdraw money for fuel and other commodities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nsecurity man told us that the ATM wasn\u2019t working, we waited for a short time\nand decided to use the Bank, as we had reached at the entrance of the Bank, the\nAskari at the Main entrance told us that the ATM is now working , so we went\nback to use the ATM since it was very convenient . <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\nwanted 2 enter with my Father to help him with the process, the Askari told me\nthat according 2 procedure, the ATM only allows one person in, so as always, I\ntold the Askari to help my Father. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\nstepped back, As my Dad had entered, he found another man in the ATM, so my\nFather asked 4 help from the man inside the ATM machine, the man offered help,\nafter a short time, my Dad came out and we moved….<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My\nDad withdrew 500,000 Ug Shs on 25th October 2019\u2022\u2022\u2022Friday at around 11am<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\ndrove off, we proceeded to Kampala, on 26th Saturday October 2019. We wanted to\nmake another transaction but the card was not the Right one, we called the Bank\nand they blocked the A.T.M<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On\nTuesday, we travelled to Mbarara, and headed to the Bank, we met the manager\nand narrated everything to her<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd\nhow the security Guard should be investigated on how he stopped me from\nentering yet he was aware of a Guy who was inside ..To us, this looked like the\nAskari was assisting a mission\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nManager gave us a print out of the transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1\u2022Dad\nwithdrew 500,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2\u2022Alleged\ncard swapper later took off 1,500,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nlimit for a day was reached<\/p>\n\n\n\n
3\u2022The\nfootage of the bank shows the same Guy coming again later after mid night to\nwithdraw 2,000,000 Ug shs<\/p>\n\n\n\n
4\u2022The\nother money was lost on swaps at fuel stations and supermarkets via the POS\nterminal<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Total\nwas 3.5million on ATM and 3.5 million through the POS machine equating to\n8,000,000 lost ,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nfootage showed how the thief successfully twisted my Dads ATM as he was\nfocusing on the 500k he had wanted 2 withdraw, then later shows again the thief\naccessing the ATM two times<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2022\u2022\u2022The\nManager understood, and gave us this response\u2022\u2022\u2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\nshall refund the money because the issue came from a security Guard who didn\u2019t\ndo his work. We got some relief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\neven reported the case to police and the reference number is attached below<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From\nOctober -November-December -jan, we have not gotten any money yet, and no\nresponse was made to us. My Father has used Centenary Bank for a very long\ntime, so we are disappointed on how they treat such Royal clients, this is not good,\njust communicate to people and tell them what\u2019s going on\u2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A\nfriend advised me to come to Head office on 28th Jan 2020, and look for the\nSecurity Department<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nResponse from a man who is from the security department was…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\ninvestigated the case and the issue is between you and the Bank\u2022\u2022\u2022\u2022I asked him,\nthem why ddnt you inform me the person who was complaining and my Dad who was\naffected<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\narrogantly said…that\u2019s what I have said and walked away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\ndon\u2019t know his name, but I can identify the man once I see him<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How\ndoes the Bank contract a security company and then can\u2019t control its\nactivities…We as clients, are we supposed to be the ones tussling out with\nthe security company or it should be the Bank? \u2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n
