The\nAlliance for National Transformation (ANT) have said that they are not ready to\nhelp parties grappling with internal fights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing\na News Conference at ANT offices in Kampala, Wilberforce Sseryazi the\nspokesperson said that it is risky to form a coalition when some members of a\ngiven party are disagreeing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
His\ncomments came barely one year to the general election in 2021 with no signs yet\nof opposition fronting a joint candidate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAware\nof previous attempts to form a coalition, we wish to communicate to all change\nseeking political actors that the strength of any coalition depends on the\nstrength and stability of the individual components,\u201d Sseryazi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sseryazi\nnoted that it would be a waste of time for opposition political parties to form\na collation when some of them still have disputes within themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nsaid that all parties must be ready to fully commit themselves to the coalition\nif it is to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nalso said there must be trust among the various parties to the coalition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe\nmost important issue for this kind of cooperation is trust among the various\npolitical organizations,\u201d Sseryazi said <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nfurther urged the various opposition political parties to build internal\ncapabilities that would ensure trust from both within themselves and other\npolitical players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In\nthe run to the 2016 polls, the opposition came together in a bid to pool\nefforts to oust President Museveni but the move never materialized when they\nfailed to agree on the way forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite\na section of the majority of TDA members endorsing former Prime Minister Amama\nMbabazi as the flag bearer, the deal collapsed as other members including Forum\nfor Democratic Change\u2019s Dr. Kizza Besigye walked out on the coalition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
